Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha told reporters following a party Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday morning that the meeting decided to begin a discussion with Deuba on the composition of the Council of Ministers.
“Chairman Prachanda will meet with Deuba today to discuss various matters important for running the administration and to move forward with the Cabinet formation,” Shrestha added. “First and foremost, we must decide what kind of Cabinet we will build today and which parties will join the government.”
The President’s Office is planning to appoint Deuba as Prime Minister and hold a swearing-in ceremony within the Supreme Court’s deadline. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court issued a mandamus order to President Pranab Mukherjee to designate Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister within 28 hours.
