Prem Bahadur Ale, the Minister of Forests and Environment, has gone viral on social media yet again with pictures of blue oxygen cylinders with his own image stuck on them.
The cylinders were emblazoned with the words “medical equipment obtained with the personal help of Honourable Prem Bahadur Ale.” However, most social media users speculated that Minister Ale had his pictures pasted on the cylinders that the government got as assistance from China, saying he purchased them in order to woo his constituency.
However, Ale claims that he distributed 125 cylinders at Doti and Kailali hospitals, with only 15 of them being government property from the Department of Health Services.
“I paid for 110 cylinders out of my own pocket,” Ale tells Onlinekhabar. “I donated 75 cylinders to Doti hospitals and 50 to Dhangadhi’s Seti Provincial Hospital. I have distributed 250,000 masks and four oxygen concentrators.”
Ale claims to be unconcerned about the criticism. “The state does not currently have (these tools). It has been ordered but has not yet been delivered. But my people are in agony at all hours of the day and night. They’re going to die. “How come I can’t serve them?”
Previously, CPN-UML chief Ganga Chaudhary was caught ‘seizing’ some oxygen cylinders that the government had obtained as help to distribute in her district.
