An 11-month-old baby has undergone a liver transplant at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj. Doctors at the teaching hospital performed a liver transplant on Saturday night at 8 p.m. The boy was donated a liver by his 35-year-old father for the transplant.
The child, who hails from Kavre, has been preparing for a transplant for a month and a half. Dr. Ramesh Singh Bhandari informed. Under his leadership, liver transplantation was started in the teaching hospital. According to Dr. Bhandari, this is the fifth liver transplant at TRI Teaching Hospital. This is the first transplant done at such a young age.
A team of doctors led by Dr. Vijay Bhij of Fortis Hospital India came to help with the transplant. Dr. Bhandari said that the transplant was successful with their help.
Both services were suspended for almost a year after the corona epidemic at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for kidney and liver transplants. This service has recently started. This is the first liver transplant since the outbreak of the corona epidemic.
