Free China Visa for Nepalis from May 1

China Grants Visa-Free Entry for Nepali Citizens to Boost Nepal-China Ties and Promote People-to-People Exchanges

China has announced a major move to strengthen its ties with Nepal by granting free visas to Nepali citizens from May 1, 2024. The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu has decided to waive visa fees for Nepali nationals, promoting closer people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, revealed that this decision aims to make the visa service more convenient for Nepalis and further deepen the bilateral relationship between China and Nepal. While express fees and service charges will still apply, the elimination of visa fees is expected to significantly benefit Nepali travelers to China.

The announcement comes after Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, requested the Chinese government to grant free visas to Nepali citizens during his recent visit to China. Nepal has already been offering visa-free entry to Chinese nationals, showcasing the warm and friendly ties between the two nations.
