KATHMANDU: Bir Hospital, Nepal’s oldest government hospital, will be operated as a Covid-19 single central hospital.
At the central hospital, at least an 11th-grade government officer or a senior doctor would be employed as chief administrative officer. A Covid-19 screening facility, a fever clinic, and a therapy center will be run out of the central hospital.
It also provides oxygen isolation, hard dependency, and intensive care units, as well as a telemedicine call center, home isolation follow-ups, ambulance, and emergency services. It will function in tandem with the admission of Covid-19-infected people to hospitals with available beds.
It may also recommend that every health facility be operated as a Covid-19 health facility.
A 10-member steering committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, will be established to ensure successful infection prevention and control, as well as treatment of infected people.
