KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister Iswar Pokharel has stated unequivocally that the High-Level COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) established for coronavirus prevention and control has not been disbanded.
DPM Pokharel stated that the high-level system in charge of COVID-10 prevention and control has not been abolished, but rather improved.
He went on to say that the steering committee, which was created under Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s leadership, will provide directives and instructions to the agencies in charge of COVID-19 management across the country.
It should be noted that, in addition to implementing the COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance-2021, the government organized a 10-member steering committee on May 20 to improve the effectiveness of COVID-19 prevention, control, and treatment efforts.
Pokharel also claimed that the CPN-UML has taken action against the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led group for participating in a signature campaign against their own party’s prime minister.
“If the party chairperson’s performance is considered unsatisfactory, he can be replaced by intra-party debate and the general convention,” he said, adding that it was against the party’s interests to conduct a signature campaign against the party chair in order to make the opposition leader prime minister without first holding a discussion within the party.
