Dilip Kumar died at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Dr. Jalil Parkar. “He died as a result of a long illness. He was 98 years old,” Parkar added. The actorR17;s official Twitter account confirmed his death as well. “It is with a heavy heart and profound grief that I announce the passing of our beloved Dilip Saab, who died a few minutes ago. We are from God, and we will return to Him.”
He was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai after complaining of shortness of breath.
Dilip Kumar, born Yusuf Khan, was a trendsetter in terms of acting style, inspiring generations of actors from various genres of Indian cinema. His career spanned five iconic decades, and he is regarded as one of India’s greatest actors. He was considered a master of understatement and eschewed the loud and theatrical elements of acting. He was one of the legends of India’s Golden Age of cinema.
To name a few, Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Gunga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam, Naya Daur, Madhumati, Kranti, Vidhaata, Shakti, and Mashaal are among his most well-known films.
Dilip Kumar was born in the Peshawar (now Pakistan) neighborhood of Qissa Khawani Bazaar to Ayesha Begum and Lala Ghulam Sarwar Khan. He made his film debut in 1944 with Jwar Bhata, but neither the film nor his work received much attention. His first box office success came in 1947 with Jugnu, which also starred Noor Jehan.
Andaz, in which he co-starred with Raj Kapoor and Nargis, was the film that catapulted Dilip Kumar to stardom. He was the first actor to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1954, and he went on to win it an additional eight times. He and Shah Rukh Khan share the record for the most Filmfare awards.
Dilip Kumar holds the Guinness World Record for winning the most awards by an Indian actor. He is also regarded as India’s first method actor. He received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
Dilip Kumar’s most recent film appearance was in the 1998 film Qila. His death has left a chasm in the film industry.
