I thought the plural would be momos like samosa to samosas?
I wonder that sometimes as well. Recently I commented on a Indian page with something about mono and wrote “momos” since Indians find it familiar.
My friend saw that comment and was bashing me in the comment for not spelling it correctly.
As far as I have seen its the Tibetans mostly complaining. They also claim that momo is absolutely not a nepali dish. I dont really know the origins of momo but they really are very defensive about it whenever momo is mentioned and nepali claim it to be a nepali dish.
Because we nepali people always manage to find something stupid to tie up with our nationalistic pride.
K garnu desh ma garva garna khusi huna lai aru kei chaina.
It is cringe hearing momos and causes my body to squeeze physically.
I may be under some hole. But I didn’t know this. Nor I’m offended by anyone calling is momos, mamas, dumplings or whatever. I call is momo or म:म sometimes as well. I feel as if I was inside some cave. People here are agreeing as if it is a normal and everyday thing.
Is it??
Momos
Bruh every Tom, Dick, and Harry, along with Sheilas I know irl fucking butcher pizzas(पिज्जा, stead of पित्सा), you don’t see angry Napolis coming over with their Tommy guns and their 🤌.
These momo gatekeepers are the same mfs that unironically think Momos are JUST as “Nepali” as jeri swari are akkha Nepalese dishes. Our entire bloody cuisine is on an active identity crisis rn.
I don’t think people lose their mind as you are suggesting. It is akin to how people from other countries are also educating people on their culture as well, it isn’t exclusive to just Nepali people or even just food. There are countless Europeans making countless videos about how to pronounce car names when its just a car name and same for food as well.
We nepalese are good at “momo policing”
Momo is momo but when they eat with their hands, like tearing a roti, I loose my shit.
No specific reason, maybe we are accustomed to hearing momo, personally my blood boils when someone says momos.
It’s like your name is Adam and someone keeps calling you Adams. And I don’t think we lose our mind, it just irritates us.
tf is momos that’s so cringe to hear
not just food. it is emotions.
I am more outraged by the fact that they eat momo with mayonnaise.
One side is calling it in English. Another side is calling it in devnagiri. Notice how it is’t spelled Momo but Mo:Mo: in Nepal. That changes the pronounciation into muh muh. Not mo mo.
Those who do they are just riddled with inferiority complex. It’s not something which some Indian can say it in Nepal. Just ignore such people, it’s not worth something to give your attention.
Because we’ve nothing else to be proud about and hence we keep making issue on every single thing. We complain and that’s all we do.
