Dr Baburam Bhattarai, the Federal Council Chairman of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), has characterized the President’s decision as a plot to end the federal democratic republic by scrapping the Constitution rather than announcing the mid-term elections.
“The President’s decision to call the mid-term elections on the advice of the Prime Minister is a collusion to wipe out the federal democratic republic alongside the Constitution, which started on December 20,” said leader Bhattarai on Twitter.

On the Prime Minister’s advice, President Bhandari dissolved the House of Representatives and called for mid-term elections on November 12 and 19, a year ahead of time.
The President’s Office said in a statement that on the advice of the cabinet, the President dissolved the House under Article 76(7) of the Constitution.
