Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli expressed profound gratitude to the Government and People of Nepal for providing the kind assistance of vaccinations during a brief ceremony conducted at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to COVAX and its partner institutions for their assistance.
“Today, the United States delivered more than 15,34,850 doses of J&J vaccinations to Nepal to aid in the fight against #COVID19. PM Oli writes, “I express deep thanks to @POTUS, the US government, and the American people for this tremendous collaboration and solidarity.”
Randy Berry, the US Ambassador to Nepal, spoke on the occasion, saying that the vaccination support was a gift from the American people to the friendly Nepalis, representing the two countries’ long-standing relationship.
A chartered jet delivered the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines to Kathmandu this morning. Minister Shrestha and Ambassador Berry were on hand to greet the shipment at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
It may be recalled that President Bidya Devi Bhandari and US President Joe Biden had previously exchanged communications on Nepal-US collaboration in the COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccine support.
