Since 2013, Nepali airline firms have been forbidden from flying in European skies due to the European Commission’s decision to place the country on a no-fly list.
The EU has recently asked that Nepal’s government unbundle the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) into two bodies, one for regulation and the other for management.
Under duress, the administration produced a bill in 2019 to implement unbundling. However, due to a variety of obstacles, the bill has yet to be approved.
Nepal Airlines Corporation, Nepal’s national flag carrier, has been hurt the most by the prohibition. Officials with the NAC said they are working to extend the corporation’s destinations,
