Sher Bahadur Deuba, Ram Chandra Poudel, and Krishna Prasad Sitaula will not run for president of the Nepali Congress, according to Vice President Bimlendra Nidhi.
Nidhi remarked in an interview with Deshsanchar that he has opted to run for election rather than deal with any factions inside the party. He also stated that he is not withdrawing his candidacy to curry favor with anyone.
Nidhi has begun consulting with various groupings inside the party as the 14th convention approaches. He stated that his goal is to build and defend the republic and the parliamentary system, as well as to eliminate factionalism within the party.
For the sake of unity and strengthening Nepali Congress, Nidhi believes Deuba, Poudel, and Situala should abandon their bids for party president.
Only a strong and united Congress, according to NC vice president Nidhi, who has been with Duba for almost two decades, including in NC (Democratic), can defend Nepal’s federal, democratic republic.
