Nokia announced that CG NET will implement its Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) solution across the Kathmandu Valley as part of an extended Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) roll-out.
- Nokia is the only provider of high-speed broadband services to both consumers and businesses.
- The fiber network will initially cover 5000 km in the major urban areas of Kathmandu Valley.
Due to rising consumption of video, OTT content, and online education, CG NET will be able to cost-effectively scale its network with Nokia’s solution to meet the growing need for a high-speed broadband network.
CG NET will be able to offer the fastest internet speeds in the market, as well as a competitive service offering for IPTV, gaming, remote work, and online education, thanks to Nokia’s solution.
Furthermore, by leveraging the same access platform, it will be possible to upgrade to next-generation technologies and Software-Defined Access networks in the future.
Nokia consumer fiber modems are included in the project to ensure excellent digital experiences within the user’s home.
With over 300 GPON deployments worldwide, Nokia is the global market leader in fiber broadband.
“There is an increasing demand for high-speed, quality broadband as people use the internet for every part of their lives,” said Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG NET. The broadband market in Nepal is becoming increasingly competitive. CG NET has the potential and aim to grow into a digitally creative, socially responsible telecommunications company. We are convinced that Nokia’s solution will enable us to deliver dependable, high-speed services quickly to market and position us for future growth.”
“Fiber broadband is being deployed in practically every country,” said Vinish Bawa, Nokia India’s Head of Emerging Business. Nokia has more than 1,000 broadband projects under its belt throughout the world, giving it the experience and knowledge to help operators in a variety of areas manage their specific difficulties.
