KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Chairperson of the COVID-19 Steering Committee KP Sharma Oli has urged line ministries and authorities to take steps to carry accredited, reliable, and easy-to-transport vaccines.
Prime Minister Oli said at the first meeting of the COVID-19 Steering Committee on Tuesday, following the promulgation of the Ordinance on COVID-19 prevention and control, that the battle against COVID-19 can only be won by vaccination; otherwise, the fight will be ongoing. “As a result, priority must be paid to the appropriate arrangement of vaccinations while increasing the quality of health services,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that the government’s current goal is to save people’s lives, and that immediate arrangements for required human and other resources would be made to the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre, which was reformed in accordance with the Ordinance.
Prime Minister Oli also stated that all data and information pertaining to COVID-19 infection in the country should be collected at the center, and the status of care facilities, medical personnel, and health equipment availability should be kept up to date on a continuous basis.
He noted that the availability of medical oxygen in the country has now increased as a result of the government’s urgency in arranging it, as well as generous assistance in oxygen cylinders, liquid oxygen, and oxygen plants from various friendly countries.
