President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Nepali Congress (NC), as Prime Minister.
The Supreme Court issued a mandamus on Monday ordering Deuba to be appointed Prime Minister by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
“In accordance with the Apex Court’s decision, President Bhandari appointed Deuba as Prime Minister. A ceremony to administer the oath of office and secrecy to Deuba will take place at 6:00 p.m., according to Bhesh Raj Adhikary, President Bhandari’s personal secretary.
NC President Deuba is leading the government for the fifth time.
