KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has chastised many news outlets for reporting on Prime Minister KP Oli and Chief Justice Choldendra Sumsher Rana.
The Supreme Court, in a press statement signed by SC Assistant Spokesperson Devendra Dhakal on Tuesday, asked the concerned news media to correct their facts, which the SC claims is “fabricated,” and to follow the journalist code of conduct.
Several media outlets reported that CJ Rana and PM Oli met late Monday night in Baluwatar.
The statement cautioned that disclosing fabricated details about a case that is currently being heard by the Supreme Court was against the law and could bring the person concerned under the jurisdiction of the law. Similarly, the statement urges the public not to be misled by such false news.
It also claimed that the Supreme Court is committed to preserving the public’s confidence in the judiciary by carrying out its responsibilities and upholding the rule of law.
