Host Japan is in third place with 17 gold, 5 silver, and 9 bronze medals for a total of 31 points, followed by Australia with 14 gold, 3 silver, and 14 bronze medals for a total of 31 points. Russia took home 12 gold, 19 silver, and 13 bronze medals for a total of 44 medals. Russia, on the other hand, received 3rd place and the third highest medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
PV Shuttler Sindhu won her second consecutive Olympic medal by defeating China’s He Bing Jiao in straight games. The Indian men’s hockey team defeated Great Britain 3-1 to advance to the semifinals, where they will face Belgium.
