Honesty this is just my opinion but why are these self proclaimed intellectuals on Reddit Nepal so keen on hating Hinduism. It’s one thing to question the practices but another thing to just plain hate it. Everyday someone comes and questions another’s faith without knowing a bit about it. And the replies are filled in favor of the OP. The religion is our identity. We might not like a lot of aspects of it but cannot plain run away from it. People who are fairly successful in their lives or acquire some sort of knowledge also follow the practice of faith but suddenly here there’s no one who learns about it but just jumps into the bandwagon of hating it or belittling people who indulge in some sort of practice of faith

Religion is not our identity. Nepal is secular democratic country, we should not push our believe or point of view on others. Lets people enjoy their freedom. If they do something illegal or something that crossed the lines then only we can criticise someone’s actions.
Bro numerous people don’t believe in religion and they criticise negative aspect of every religion not only hinduism, if you can’t take criticism, it’s your weakness. And don’t generalise everyone’s identity based on your religious beliefs.

Religion is just a way to divide people. It’s a cult. There’s a famous saying “once you’re accustomed to privilege, equality seems like oppression” which can be applied here. Hinduism is still the majority in Nepal so any kind of opposition, we have ppl like u having all these victim complexes.

Who is ‘our’? Also, It’s not about ‘running away’, it’s simply not acknowledging it, at least in the traditional sense.
Why are adamant on labelling religion as identity on everyone? Even if it’s an identity, they have all the rights to leave it.

Not denying Hinduism shapes most of our culture and livelihood, but if few of its “stakeholders” impede other’s individuality, angst can sometimes be expressed as hate.
Of-course one can run from their religion, you hold no power but to control your choices alone. It comes up to you how you handle your private conflicts regarding everyone else’s choices.
IG, since this is the community of Nepal, it might represent a sample of its demography, so most of us must be from a Hindu family. If people have opinions about their belief system (either negative or positive), it is a symbol of a well functioning society unless the calls are for harms and riots.
Humanity is the essence of hour. Let people celebrate or practice whatever they want, peacefully.

Religion was created to divide people. All religions are mythological based on which part of world you live in. Science is the way forward. Nobody is superior or inferior based on religion.

You can discuss your identity, but you cannot project your identity onto everyone else. Hinduism is not our identity; we are Nepali people, and our identity includes Nepal, not the Hindu religion. Therefore, it’s important to keep your faith to yourself and respect others’ beliefs.
Almost everyone here fails to believe that Hinduism is not just our religion, it is our culture and the very identity. Hating Hinduism is not hating the religion but your own identity. There is so many different schools of thought you just need to choose one which helps you.
Christianity in Nepal is mainly due to faith healing and preying on the weak. After a generation their children begin to rightfully question the cult their parents accepted and return to hinduism or just become agnostic. I have no problem with these people as they mind their own buisness and happily celebrate their identity.

People treat disparities and friction between two groups as they do with two individual humans.
Groups are much more complex. Its not like dislike, quarrel and hate between two humans. You cant expect two groups to have peace without intrusive ideological changes.
Hindusim has to grow out of caste system to survive.

Thats just not true. All religions tend to have factors that guilt people to behave a certain way, if your religion does that then people who dont follow hate that youve set up a moral code that says they are immoral. There are many solid examples as to why somone would hate a religion without following it. There are pros to religion, but religion is far too easy to disprove, and its rules for morals to follow are becoming outdated, as the world has hit the information era, its easy to discuss whats logical and not. Religion has become vastly outdated, and those who still follow it tend to throw outdated views at everyone else. Its valid to hate on it.
There are what, over 8,000 gods? The only reason you believe in your god is due to having being born into that specific one. Not because its the 1 real god, its just where and who you were born to that brings which god of thousands you believe.
Well, there are two sets of users who do it.
1. Secular progressive atheist Hindus who have been conditioned to self hate by mainstream media/Hollywood and colonized mindset.
Nothing wrong with being atheist or secular but most of their beliefs are based on ignorance of their own religion and misleading teaching of Hinduism by outsiders.
2. Certain non-hindu users who abuse, mock, oppose Hinduism every chance they get because they belong to some other religion. Keep in mind, they don’t proclaim to be from a different religion but they put on a mask of being secular or atheist Hindus to attack Hinduism.
I can name them here but I don’t want to make it personal. Notice their comments and username from next time, and you’ll see who they really are.

Well but this is just a story not a history. Sad thing is ppl are so much into illusion that they can’t even distinguish between a scripted fiction over a scientific archeological history. The real history of that Indian subcontinent is Indus civilization and Buddha civilization which is backed by plenty of archeological evidences. But there’s not even a single shred of evidence to back the war of Mahabharata. Yup, hinduism is definitely a significant part of average Nepali’s identity like most of us are surrounded by hindus from birth to death but some people prefer not to associate themselves with that and we should respect their choice.
I personally enjoy the festivals but if u ask me if I really believe that the Hindu myths are real? No, Do I like every rituals? No, I indeed hate some of those.
Some people might have had bad experiences with the religion in their life and started hating it, its not quite right to say they are plainly hating on it without knowing without knowing anything about others faith as you don’t know anything about their life either.
And yes there are people who just jump on rejecting hinduism without learning anything about it, not even trying to understand it but the people who agree with it without learning anything about it outnumber the first by a large margin, If the second is valid so should the first.
plus there are successful people who are religious as well as who are not and some successful people practicing some given faith doesn’t validate it.
