I have been wanting to ask this question for some time now. I don’t like kids. I will probably never have kids myself. It takes determination, sacrifice, hard work and money to become good parent. I don’t think I can afford that. So what convinced you to have kids and when did you have them?

It was not a hard decision. Me and my wife always wanted kids. The question was how many. We compromised and settled at 1. We have a boy. I don’t think either of us would mind if we had one more but at this point we’re quite frankly getting a little too old for it.
Now back to your question on why. For me personally, I will have someone to call on to. He doesn’t have to look after me and take care of me or my wife when we get old. At the moment, he’s just a happy little presence in our life. Just the two of us would surely have turned old and boring after a few years. We have something to look forward to, to mold him to the person I could never become, to look forward to being proud to everything he’ll achieve.
I’m mindful that I might be being overly dreamy and ambitious. When he grows up, I want him to have a memory of a childhood that doesn’t suck like mine did and really have a content life and blissful existence… just an extension of what I could never have. We both love him dearly.

Nature. Natural Drive I guess. Me and my wife impulsively decided to have a kid. We were nearer and Physical attraction was way more pronounced after that. Now we have a beautiful daughter and there is this constant feeling of completeness.

There’s a saying,” All kids deserve a parent but not all parents deserve a kid.” So that is the sole mantra for me, If i cannot give my full time then it is okay for me to not want a kid. When you are fully ready i think then you know it??

I don’t want any kids too for a simple reason. If I had a choice, I would never choose to be born. Simple. I was basically forced to be born and suffer through life and why would I want another person the same?

Partying and money has already taken a toll on your body, you have travelled enough countries but at the end of the day, its somewhat similar new till its get old, and you can’t travel no more,you’re not young, that’s when you need kids grandkids, as they play in your garden with your cute golden retirever. Actual happiness lies in that garden as you read your digital newspaper, take a sip of tea and bask in the sun as your grand kids are playing in the garden and your son daughter in law, are hurrying for work, running after the mischievous child. Now imagine opposite of that, you’re sitting alone, maybe your old wife there having tea. And whatelse is there. In old age you get bored of everything, shares, work, new things don’t excite you. So better thing clearly. You must probably be young so you think like that. With age everything changes. Hope you liked my perspective. Tc have a good life.

I never liked kids and I still don’t other than mine. Once you have yours it’s different.
At first, I didn’t want any kid.All same reason as you said. Then, I had one. Its amazing and hard at the same time. I thought I understood love but the love you have towards your kid is at a different level. They bring a very different side of you that no one can explain you, you just have to feel it. Now, being said that, it is a difficult job and you should not have a child if you do not want to. Everyone doesn’t need to have a child. You can be perfectly happy without one. Just my two cents.

From an ethical standpoint the most useful thing you as an individual could do to further humanity is to either contribute to the cutting edges of all human arts and science so that we progress further OR you could have offspring so that they or tier offsprings could carry on the legacy.
I think most of parents answer will be : “to rely on someone during old age”

Human beings are biologically wired to have offspring to ensure the survival of their gene.
It’s the same in Nepalese society before they used to think the more kids you used to have the wealthier you would be in the future be so kids used to be a guarantee for the future.
These days once you’ve acquired a decent job with a stable income and reach your late 20s or early 30s you are expected to find a partner and get married or your family will find one for you. Your parents want grandkids and your partner might want kids too.
Females have to think ahead so even if their partner doesn’t want to have kids early they would want to have kids before 35 to avoid childbirth complications and stuff.
If both you and your partner decide on not having kids before marriage it’s great but once you reach your 40s-50s and see everyone around you with kids you might feel differently about it or even regret not having kids.
