See so many posts about leaving Nepal and what’s bad about life in Nepal. On the flip side what do you all feel are upsides of life in Nepal?
For me, having lived in both US and Nepal, I feel like life is simpler in Nepal. There is less loneliness because the society is less individualistic and there is always something to look forward to.

You get to spend time with your parents before they are too old.
For me, at mid 30s,
1st is Family: i spend a lot of time with my parents, wife, and child.
2nd: i can just call friends and go for tea hangouts. Guff gaff till we are so tired.
3rd: I can get engaged in various jatras and festivals.
4th: I can just go for a beautiful trek and hike fortnightly. The leisure is the most beautiful luxury.
5th: mental health. I am more relaxed and happy here in Nepal. ( I went aboard for work in the late 20s)

The market is nascent and unexplored. With enough gumption and energy, you can get a lot done.
Unless you come from money, there are very few upsides to living in Nepal. Socio-economic ladder climb garna dherai garo huncha. You are going to need a lot of luck. Tara mehanat garyo vane America, timro arthik uthaan chado huncha.
Aaram le piracy garna paincha. J torrent gare ni hunxa.
Slow-paced lifestyle,family camaraderie and how can you not love the freaking weather especially this time of the year
The air’s so bad in ktm, you’ll leave all your problems 10 years earlier.
Food is actually not that bad
While in Nepal, you may believe you have faced these but you really have not. Outside Nepal, you may really have to face loneliness, depression and despair.
You can enjoy SoCal weather with comparatively lesser stress at least in Kathmandu. That’s all.
Pros is you will not have kids with identity crisis. I have seen kids who are confused about their identity. They don’t belong in east as well as west.
2 cr property rate….50L car rates which is worth 20k $…. Health facilities …. Education system whole…. Work life balance…. The AIR itself… The public transport system… People’s conservative mindset… The inflation rate… The corruption and Nepotism…. Inability to buy things exceeding 500$ per year legally…. The tax on imported goods…. Whole definition of success surrounding around money only… The beureocracy and politics…. The infrastructure… The traffic’s and road accidents…. More to add but guess no one’s reading it so stopping here.
It’s relatively safe from being robbed on the street, for instance. Nice nature outside the cities. Not too expensive.
Same experience, same thoughts bro. Returning to Nepal after working in the US was the best decision I made.
I live in the states. If my family was rich enough that I could afford basic level luxury without any stress living in kathmandu, I would rather live in nepal.
Food
I’m American. People are kind here. It’s much safer. Quality of life seems better here overall. It’s healthier both physically and mentally.
