Nepal Oil Corporation Slashes Diesel, Kerosene Prices; Hikes Aviation Fuel Rates

The state-owned fuel distribution company adjusts retail prices, providing relief to consumers while aligning aviation fuel costs with global trends

In a move that will bring respite to consumers, the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a decrease in the prices of diesel and kerosene, effective immediately. However, the state-owned fuel distributor has also increased the rates for aviation fuel, both domestic and international, to align with global market dynamics.

According to NOC spokesperson Manoj Thakur, the price of diesel and kerosene has been reduced by Rs 2 per liter across all location categories. For the first category of locations, the revised price stands at Rs 156.50 per liter, while for the second and third categories, the rates are Rs 158 and Rs 159 per liter, respectively.

On the other hand, the NOC has increased the price of aviation fuel (domestic) by Rs 1 per liter, bringing the new rate to Rs 137 per liter. Furthermore, aviation fuel (international) has seen a hike of US$ 7 per kiloliter, with the updated price set at US$ 1.042 per liter.

The price adjustments come as the NOC aims to balance consumer interests with the dynamic nature of global fuel prices. While the reduction in diesel and kerosene prices is expected to provide relief to households and businesses relying on these fuels, the increase in aviation fuel rates aligns with international market trends and ensures the sustainability of Nepal’s aviation sector.

Notably, the NOC has maintained the prices of petrol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, leaving these essential commodities unaffected by the latest price revisions.
